Barn
A North Norfolk flint barn converted by previous owners was introduced to Timothy by Thomas Faire, however the new owners had in mind to double the building footprint. Pushing the proposed build into the rising ground, in heavy Norfolk clay, had its own problems. Ground water appeared during works because the deepest point in the new build was 1.5m below the natural ground level. Proposals included an initial recontour of the site, a comprehensive drainage scheme and then the detail to capture the mood of the old with the new, in rural Norfolk, placing them both in a common setting for harmony and a sense of place.
