Town
A tall Town House perched at the top of its plot and built from boundary to boundary with no access other than through the front door, looking to install a pool. Sunshine bathed the house and the immediate adjacent garden, however placing a pool, in the top terrace, as you step into the garden was far from desirable. Below the terrace, a sloping lawn fell away by more than five metres with trees and a few shrubs. A three-dimensional design solution was required. Arising spoil ideally should be incorporated in the finished garden. The design needed to accommodate the pool for the summer months, without it dominating the plot, especially for the months that the pool is not in use. Designed sight lines and new land horizons, came from a series of section drawings through the proposed gardens determining what is seen from each of the four levels in the new garden
